Narrow Path

“Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
Proverbs 4:27

What is it to go to the Right? Letter of the Law

“For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” Romans 7:5-6

When we discover the deceptive lawlessness of the church there is a propensity to compensate too far and go off the narrow path to the right.

  1. We wrongly assume that the Jews have the truth, and we begin to follow their ways.

  2. We begin to revel in our newly found epiphanies and forget from whence we came.

  3. We become prideful and covetous. We think we are extra special and will not be touched by the Great Tribulation.

  4. We create stumbling blocks for new believers.

  5. We begin to look down at the people still trapped in the Christian church.

  6. We neglect the fulfillment of the royal law.

“That drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.” Amos 6:6

Back to the beginning:

We are to keep the commandments of the covenants of promise and the royal law.

  • Covenant made at Horeb. Deu 5:2-21

  • Rainbow Covenant. Gen 6/7/8, Lev 11, Deu 14

  • Royal Law. Mark 12:29-31 James2:8-9 Lev 19:17-18 Deu 6/7/8

Messiah’s death fulfilled sacrificial law. All of it.  This cannot be overstated or ignored. If we choose to keep any part of sacrificial law, we denigrate Messiah’s sacrifice.  Sacrificial law is the law of sin and death, do not touch it. (See Romans 8:2/1 Corinthians 15:56/Galatians 4:21-31)

Some common examples of going to the Right:

  1. Practicing the trappings of sacrificial law:

  • Performing the biblical feasts.

Messiah fulfilled the sacrifices of the biblical feasts. Yet we must know the feasts and what they mean. They are prophetic.

    • “These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.” Deuteronomy 5:22

    • The feasts must be performed in the land where the Almighty places His name and at the appointed time. We live in a profane land, and we are on a profane calendar.  Please see “Jewish Myths” for further information.

    • Notice in John 7:1-13 Messiah hid himself from the Jew’s feast. And in Mark 14 Messiah performs the Passover the day before the Jew’s performed their Passover.  The calendar was wrong even then, Messiah knew the correct day, but the Pharisees did not.

  • Wearing tzitzits, prayer shawls, head coverings, long beards, etc.

2 Missing spiritual meanings for only the literal.

    • Do not mix wool with linen- do not do as the pagans.

    • Don’t dress as the opposite sex- do not take on the roles of the opposite sex.

    • Do not kindle a fire on the Sabbath day- do not quarrel.

As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.” Proverbs 26:21

3 Obsessing over the Hebrew, particularly the paleo Hebrew.

  • Doesn’t the prophet Zephaniah tell us the Almighty will restore the pure language?

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.” Zeph 3:9

  • Messiah elevated the royal law.  The fulfillment of the royal law is loving your neighbor. The ultimate love is sharing the Word with those who do not have it or hold an incorrect version. The Hebrew can confuse and even scare a new believer.

This is a stumbling block.

Then He said to me, “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. “For you are not being sent to a people of unintelligible speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel, nor to many peoples of unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. But I have sent you to them who should listen to you; Eze 3:4-6

4- Obsessing over the Calendar.

  • If we spend most of our time focused on discovering the true calendar, are we not missing the fulfilling of Messiah’s elevated commandment? Isn’t it most important to plant and water the seeds?

  • Doesn’t the prophet Isaiah tells us that the Almighty will restore the proper time; calendar?

“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Almighty.” Isaiah 66:23

5- Practicing Man-made Traditions

  • Sabbath begins at dawn. See Genesis 1.

The evening-to-evening tradition was likely picked up in Babylon.

  • The performing of the biblical feasts today is a form of man-made tradition as they are to be done in the proper land on the proper day.

  • The Hanukkah holiday is man-made tradition as it is not part of Torah.

Research, meditate, pray, and decide for yourself.
